Shard update

DonutSMP has updated the shard ecosystem. Before you earned 1 shard every 1 minute in the "/afk" zone. Now you get 1 shard every 10 minutes, no matter where you are. This means you can AFK your farm whilst earning shards. But shard farming in itself is less profitable. Still this remains the only way to obtain shards through the server.

What are shards?

Shards are DonutSMP's ekstra currency. You get 1 shard every 10 minutes, so 6 an hour, completely passive, no matter where you are in-game.

You can use shards to buy anything you want from "/shardshop". If you want to skip the grind you can also purchase shards from their BuyCraft, however these are quite expensive.

Most items in the shard shop are obtainable through vanilla gameplay, but a few items are not. These items are generally the best to invest in.

Getting the most out of it

A few things that actually matter:

• Don't disconnect. Anti-AFK mods, AFK pools, whatever your server allows. If you time out, you stop earning shards.
• Leave it running overnight. 8 hours of sleep is ~48 shards you didn't have to think about.
• If you don't want to leave your PC on, our web client does it for you. Runs 24/7, you can manage everything from your phone.

What to spend shards on

As previously mentioned, buying the non-vanilla items are generally the best investment to make. You can either use those items yourself to earn more money or you can sell them in the auction house.

Final thoughts

AFKing shards isn't flashy but it works, and it works while you're not even at your computer. Whether you're brand new or already rich, it's the lowest-effort way to keep your balance going up.
